Ted Sargent received the B.Sc.Eng. (Engineering Physics) from Queen’s University in 1995 and the Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering (Photonics) from the University of Toronto in 1998. He has held the following visiting professorships:

He holds the rank of University Professor in the Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto. He holds the Canada Research Chair in Nanotechnology and also previously served as Vice President – Research for the University of Toronto.

His book The Dance of Molecules: How Nanotechnology is Changing Our Lives (Penguin) was published in Canada and the United States in 2005 and has been translated into French, Spanish, Italian, Korean, and Arabic.

He is founder and CTO of InVisage Technologies and a co-founder of Xagenic.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada; a Fellow of the AAAS “…for distinguished contributions to the development of solar cells and light sensors based on solution-processed semiconductors;” and a Fellow of the IEEE “… for contributions to colloidal quantum dot optoelectronic devices.” He is Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering for “…ground-breaking research in nanotechnology, applying novel quantum-tuned materials to the realization of full-spectrum solar cells and ultra sensitive light detectors. The impact of his work has been felt in industry through his formation of two start-up companies.”

His publications have been cited over 80,000 times, and 150 of his papers have been cited >= 150 times [all Scopus].

Amin Received his Ph.D. from University of Alberta under the supervision of Prof. Richard L. McCreery in 2018. His research focus has been on the Molecular Electronics: from flexible fabrication, transport and optoelectronics to electrostatic doping of molecular layer (<20 nm). He wants to use our current understanding of interface characteristics of covalently grown molecular layer in order to increase or modulate the performance of quantum dots- and perovskite-based devices.

His research involved the functionalization and characterization of nanomaterials and mineral oxide/aqueous interfaces. Dr. Clark Chen

Clark received his Ph.D. degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Princeton University in 2017, under the tutelage of Prof. Bruce Koel. He later joined Prof. Richard Van Duyne’s group at Northwestern University as a postdoctoral fellow (later with George Schatz and Mike Wasielewski). Clark’s past research spanned electrocatalysis, nanomaterial synthesis, and operando spectroscopy. Clark joined the Sargent group in 2020 as a postdoctoral fellow and is currently focusing on CO2 conversion using renewable processes.

Dr. Ning Wang

Pan Xia received her Ph.D. from University of California, Riverside under the supervision of Prof. Minglee Tang in 2019. Her research focused on the surface engineering of QD with the design& synthesis of ligands to achieve efficient energy/ charge transfer. She worked as a joint postdoc of Prof. Minglee Tang and Prof. Kaifeng Wu at Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics on applying the pump-probe spectroscopy to investigate the fundamentals of QDs in 2020. She wants to combine her QD surface chemistry and photophysical background to understand the mechanism and design good performance of QD optoelectronic devices.

Dr. Pan Xia

Pan Xia received her Ph.D. from University of California, Riverside under the supervision of Prof. Minglee Tang in 2019. Her research focused on the surface engineering of QD with the design& synthesis of ligands to achieve efficient energy/ charge transfer. She worked as a joint postdoc of Prof. Minglee Tang and Prof. Kaifeng Wu at Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics on applying the pump-probe spectroscopy to investigate the fundamentals of QDs in 2020. Following her bachelor studies, she pursued graduate studies in Material Science and Engineering at Sharif University of Technology. She joined Sargent Group in 2018 as a Ph.D. candidate.
