Dr. Payel Mondal

payel.mondal@northwestern.edu

Payel received her Ph.D. in Chemistry from JNCASR Bangalore, India in 2022 under the supervision of Prof. Ranjani Viswanatha. Her Ph.D. work was mainly focused on studying the fundamental photophysics of transition metal doped II-VI semiconductor quantum dots. She joined the Sargent group as a postdoctoral fellow in November 2023. Her current research interest involves the surface engineering of colloidal quantum dots to enhance photodetector performance.

Dr. Stefan Zeiske

stefan.zeiske@northwestern.edu

Stefan received his Ph.D. degree in January 2022 under the supervision of Prof. Paul Meredith and Prof. Ardalan Armin at Swansea University, United Kingdom. His Ph.D. studies mainly focused on the optoelectronic characterization of charge generation and recombination processes in organic solar cells and photodetectors. He joined the Sargent group as a postdoctoral researcher in November 2023. His current research interest lies in single-junction perovskite solar cells and colloidal quantum dot near-infrared photodetectors.

Dr. Hyun Seung Jung

hyunseung.jung@northwestern.edu

Hyun Seung Jung obtained B.S. and Ph.D. degrees at the School of Chemical Engineering, Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), under the supervision of Prof. Jong Wook Bae. Hyun Seung joined the Sargent group as a postdoctoral fellow in September 2023. He designed various metal oxide, zeolite, and metal-organic framework (MOF) catalysts for gas-phase thermal catalysis, including CO/CO2 hydrogenation, dimethyl ether carbonylation, and methyl acetate (MA) hydrogenation for indirect ethanol production using fixed-bed and fluidized-bed reactors. His current research topics in the Sargent group include the development of catalysts for the electrochemical process, electrified CO2 capture, and the combination of thermal-electrocatalysis systems to maximize process efficiency.

Dr. Hyeongwoo Ban

Hyeongwoo Ban (author name is “Hyeongwoo Woo Ban”) received his Ph.D. degree in Feb. 2021, from the Department of Material and Science Engineering at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) under the supervision of Prof. Jae Sung Son. He joined the Sargent group as a postdoctoral fellow in March 2022. His current research focus is primarily on the synthesis of III-V colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) in the infrared region and the surface engineering of CQDs for CQD-based optoelectronic device applications.

Dr. Connor McCormick

connor.mccormick@northwestern.edu

Connor McCormick received his Ph.D. degree in chemistry from Pennsylvania State University under the direction of Raymond E. Schaak. His research focused on developing robust syntheses to target complex heterostructured metal chalcogenide nanoparticles. He joined the Sargent lab in 2023 as a postdoctoral fellow associated with the International Institute for Nanotechnology (IIN). He serves in a collaborative effort between the Mirkin and Sargent labs, focused on the combinatorial discovery of new electrocatalysts.

Dr. Bei Zhou

bei.zhou@northwestern.edu

Bei Zhou obtained the Ph.D. degree from Leibniz Institute for Catalysis (LIKAT), Germany, under the supervision of Prof. Matthias Beller in June 2023. Her Ph.D. studies focused on heterogeneous catalysis for organic synthesis for hydrogenation, amination, hydrodeoxygenation and alkylation reactions. She joined the Sargent group at Northwestern University as a postdoc fellow in October 2023, with research interests in electrocatalytic CO2 capture and conversion.
